A project from Wililam of Tender Co., Whooper brand is inspired by the flight of the whooper swan, which migrates across the vast distance from England to Japan, pausing on the West Coast of the USA.
Designed in England and made in Japan, Whooper finds its influences in deadstock and used American clothes of the recent past. We believe that jeans honouring the technical innovations of the later part of the 20th Century prove as rewarding to wear as the artisanal shuttle-woven textiles of the 1870s. Built with integrity and efficiency, Whooper celebrates the era in which jeans became everyday wear.
A pair of Whooper jeans starts as natural, unbleached American-grown Upland cotton. The cotton is spun and rope-dyed in indigo nine times in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. The resulting indigo yarn is woven into full width non-selvage denim on a Toyoda JAT810 air jet loom, also in Fukuyama.
