SUMMER WANDERLUST ALONG THE C&O

Posted by 1 on

Dusk along the Canal - a celebration of creative friends & good food. Back roads along the river brought us all to one of the remaining lock houses. A simple 18th century structure that housed the canal master & their family, we arrived at the mouth of the Potomac for an evening of oysters, beer, fireside and music...it was a night to remember. We shucked until we couldn't shuck one more - Rhubarb Tea was served in icy copper mugs, the beer was stacked high...everyone helped in the making of greens and smoked sausage over the campfire. Storytelling ensued, along with wandering down to the river and through the fields. Man's best friend (Thatcher, Atlas, Penny, James, Clio and Layla) wandered through the tall grass with us. Blackberry cobbler, whiskey and The North Country sang under the trees.

We didn't want to leave.

As follows, a small history of the day. Perhaps you can join us for the next.
